Environmental and Power Monitoring for Data Centres, Server Rooms, Data Racks.
Server Room Temperature
There are usually many different kinds of hardware in a server room, from different manufacturers and with slightly different desired environmental conditions. Various bodies have offered recommendations for the most suitable levels of temperature in server rooms and data centres and to date, one stands out, namely ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers). ASHRAE is used by the European Commission Institute of Energy for their EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres.
These recommendations are 18-27°C temperature as described by ASHRAE in “
2008 ASHRAE Environmental Guidelines for Datacom Equipment
”.
